Volunteer Day at RRC May 11 2024

There are currently no volunteer activities available. Please check back later.

This volunteer opportunity is available to ANY friends of nature – runners, bikers, hikers, Master Naturalists, and neighbors.

With spring moving towards summer, we will be working this Saturday on invasive remove to keep our forest in balance .

We will meet at the Friends Wilderness parking area. Turn onto Mission Road from Route 115 (a right-hand turn if coming from Charles Town, WV), go 6.5 miles and turn left onto the gravel road with signage for Rolling Ridge. Turn right at the intersection of Floc Way, Tupelo Lane, and Mission Road.  Turn left at the intersection of Mission Road and Christ Church Rd, then bear right onto Friends Way.  Follow the signs toward the Niles Cabin.  For those of you that usually come from the Virginia access (SU campus), you’ll either need to ride your bike or drive the long way to the WV meeting site.

Things you should bring: Work boots, gloves, water bottle, snack, sunglasses or eye protection. We will bring extra drinking water.

Safety Note: There is always the consideration of ticks and snakes in our landscape and thought should be placed on dressing for the environment (i.e. long pants tucked into socks and a good pair of shoes or boots)
